Why Jars For Lunch

Not Just Another Lunch in Bath

Quick or Leisurely — Your Call

We're a relaxed restaurant, not a lunch machine. If you have 45 minutes, we'll have you fed and happy. If you want to linger over meze and wine for two hours, we're just as happy to accommodate.

Right in the Heart of Bath

Northumberland Place is 30 seconds from Bath High Street and 2 minutes from the Roman Baths. The most convenient lunch spot in the city centre — and the most rewarding.

Real Food, Not a Lunch Special

We serve the same quality at lunch as we do at dinner. No watered-down lunchtime menu — the full selection is available, at the same standard.

What to Order at Lunch

Meze is made for sharing — order a few starters and let everyone pick a main. Or go all-in on starters. We're not judging.

Pork Gyros Platter

Pork Gyros Platter

Slow-marinated pork carved from the spit, served with warm pita, tzatziki, chips, and red onion. Bath's best gyros, full stop.

Spanakopita

Spanakopita

Hand-folded filo pastry with spinach, feta, and herbs — made fresh every morning. The perfect light lunch or sharing starter.

Grilled Halloumi

Grilled Halloumi

Classic Cypriot halloumi, charred on the grill, served with lemon and fresh herbs. A meze essential and a perennial favourite.

Horiatiki — Greek Salad

Horiatiki — Greek Salad

Chunky tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and feta in olive oil. Sharp, fresh, and completely right for a sunny lunchtime in Bath.

Dolmades

Dolmades

Hand-rolled vine leaves stuffed with herbed rice. Served warm — ideal as a starter or as part of a bigger shared meze selection.

Moussaka

Moussaka

Layers of minced beef and roasted aubergine topped with creamy béchamel. Filling, warming, and completely satisfying.

What Guests Say About Lunch

★★★★★

Had a wonderful lunch here after visiting the Roman Baths. The meze selection was brilliant — we ordered about 6 things and everything was outstanding. The gyros platter was particularly good.

Sarah M.

★★★★★

Took the team here for a working lunch. The sharing plates made it social and relaxed, the food was genuinely excellent, and the staff were brilliant. Will absolutely go back.

Work Lunch Party

★★★★★

Perfect lunch spot in Bath. Sat outside on a sunny day, ordered the halloumi and the gyros, had a lovely glass of wine. Exactly what midday dining should feel like.

Lunch FAQs

What are your lunch opening hours?

We open for lunch Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00 (until 15:00/15:30 respectively). Sunday lunch runs 12:00–16:00. We're closed on Mondays. Check the full hours above.

Is lunch in Bath at Jars Meze good value?

Absolutely. A generous meze lunch — a couple of starters, a main, and a drink — comes to around £20–£28 per person. The quality is the same as our dinner service. Which is to say: excellent.

Can I walk in for lunch or do I need to book?

Walk-ins are very welcome for lunch, especially midweek. Weekday lunchtimes are usually relaxed enough to seat you on the spot. Weekends are busier — a quick reservation is a good idea.

Do you have outdoor seating for lunch?

Yes — in warmer months we open our outdoor seating on Northumberland Place. One of the best spots in Bath for an al-fresco lunch.
